Sallie DeEtte Mackie worked as a comedienne and dancer starting at age fifteen. She has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild since 1981. In the late 80's she decided to finish her college education.
As a child she was an artist and photographer. After graduating from UCLA in 1988 Sallie worked briefly in acting then returned to her childhood love of photography. She then combined her love of theatre arts and photography becoming a well known dance photographer around the world.
Sallie has been taking pictures all her life; she was born into a family of photographers, snapping images with her Kodak Swinger as a young girl. Sallie graduated from UCLA School of Arts and Architecture, did her post graduate studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute, trained in theatre and dance at The North Carolina School of the Arts, and arts at Penland School of Arts and Crafts.
She has been published editorially around the world for twenty years but is primarily an art photographer for artists. Her credits include academic projects, CD's, book covers, videos, portraits and dozens of magazines and other publications.
Sallie now specializes in portraits of artists utilizing her talents to personalize a stylish, timeless and unforgettable image.
