Biography

Lennart Ehrenborg, born 1923 in Stockholm, was a Swedish filmmaker, writer, and producer. He was hired by Radiotjänst when in 1956 the Swedish National Radio was to begin broadcasting television. Ehrenborg was a young and well-known ability with certain film skills that the newly started television company badly needed. His assignment was to recruit radio and newspaper journalists, still photographers, amateur filmmakers and let them all have a go with the new medium. The result was a wide range of talented documentaries, filmed lectures, community and cultural programs. Lennart Ehrenborg had created a documentary culture and soon a national education in film was established. Radiotjänst became Sveriges Radio TV (SVT). Among the large number of films Ehrenborg produced himself "Abu Simbel: Saved Temples" (1966) and "Ra" (1971) about the expedition organized by Thor Heyerdahl, which crossed the Atlantic Ocean in a papyrus boat in 1969 and 1970, stand out. Lennart Ehrenborg passed away at the age of 94, on Dec. 8, 2017, in Stockholm.
