Biography

Genoveva Dimitrova was born in the city of Pleven on May 25, 1958. She studied Russian Philology in Sofia University , then graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria with a degree in film studies . In 1990, she became editor of the magazine "Cinema" and the newspaper "Culture" .She is a member of the editorial boards of the journals "Should" and "Altera" . Genoveva Dimitrova is a Professor of film analysis at the New Bulgarian University and lectures "To think about the cinema" at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". She is the member of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists , the Union of Bulgarian Film Makers, FIPRESCI (International Film Critics Association) and others. She participated as an actress in the films "The Camp", directed by Georgi Djulgerov and "Patou", directed by Stanislava Kaltcheva. She is a winner of Union of Bulgarian Filmmaker's Award for operational criticism in 2006 and the Annual Award for theory and criticism of Bulgarian Film Academy for his book "Roundabouts of absurdity; Russian feature films (1991-2011). She received the Annual Award for operational criticism of Bulgarian Film Academy in 2016.
