Joe Diskay was born in Hungary and was in the Hungarian Army. He left Hungary because of hardships from the war. IN New York he became a famous tenor opera singer at the Metropolitan Opera, and toured the country performing concerts.
Later he opened a voice studio on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, where he taught many famous actors to sing, including Chief Thundercloud (Tonto) who became a great singer.
It is said that Diskay was used to replace Al Jolson's voice for one song in "The Jazz Singer."
