Biography

Jacob Derwig is one of The Netherlands' most outstanding actors. From 2005 until 2013 Jacob has toured the world with renowned theatre company Toneelgroep Amsterdam, with artistic director Ivo van Hove. From then on he turned his focus towards film and television, starring in box-office hit Family Way (2012), The Dinner (2013), A Noble Intention (2015) and in the highly popular Dutch crime-series Penoza (2010), directed by Diederik Van Rooijen. Jacob starred in the brand new television-series Klem (2017), followed by a new Dutch feature film The Resistance Banker (2018). Throughout his career he played many leading roles in the theatre, such as Hamlet, Ivanov, George in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Roy Cohn in Angels in America. He has won five important theatre awards, including two Louis d'Ors. Jacob has adapted the famous novel Revolutionary Road for the stage and starred in this production in 2017.
