Justin Deabler is best known for his stint on the eighth season of_"Real World, The" (1992)_ in Hawaii. On the MTV reality show, he garnered the reputation of being the removed and misunderstood intellectual type on the Hawaii-based set. (It should be noted that later in the season Justin "removed" himself from the show all together, citing his reasons for leaving as 'personal'). Although he understandably feels misrepresented in the cut-and-paste editing of the Real World cameras, the fact that Justin possesses intellectual prowess cannot be denied.
At the age of 15, Justin entered college, attending Simon's Rock College, the nation's only institution of higher learning where students enter after 10th grade. This school is known for its progressive and radical approach to education and incidentally is the same alma mater of the renowned Coen Brothers, Joel Coen and Ethan Coen.
After receiving his associates degree from Simon's Rock in 1995, Justin received his B.A. from Swarthmore College in 1997. He then went on to attend Harvard Law School, receiving his J.D. in 2001. Through out his academic career, Deabler was active in supporting human rights, becoming a student advocate for Gay and Lesbian issues. After the season ended, Justin participated in various lecture series on the university circuit, focusing on issues of difference and tolerance, proving that he could use his 'notoriety' as an ex-Real World-er to further societal improvement and not self-exploitation.
