Solveig Bang descended from the Brønnøysund area in northern Norway from her fathers family. Born in 1899 as the daughter of lawyer Hans Herman Bang and Ragna Engelstad, she was a graduate student in 1918. With her background and good looks, she got a role in the Swedish film: Hårda Viljor in 1923. It was shot in the Brønnøysund area. Otherwise she worked as a stenographer, and she was also politically active. She died in 1974, only six months after her husband.
