Yusuf Atilgan

One of the most influential Turkish writers in the 20th century, born in Manisa, 1922. Inspired by the work of William Faulkner, even burn a completed novel because of it's resemblance to Faulkner's style. Accused with "communist activities" and sentenced for ten months. "Aylak Adam" and "Anayurt Oteli" are his best known novels. He also worked as translator, redactor and consultant; died because of an heart attack in Istanbul at the age of 68.
