Biography

Songwriter ("Hot Lips", "Wang Wang Blues"), conductor, composer, and trumpeter in the Paul Whiteman orchestra between 1918-1928. He then formed his own orchestra, appearing in night clubs, radio, and dance halls. He made many records, and did many concert tours in he USA and Europe. Joining ASCAP in 1946, his chief musical collaborators included Lou Davis and Henry Lange. His other popular song compositions include "Horn Tootin' Blues", "Fiesta", and "Haunting Blues".
