OSCAR DERIC BROWN Brilliant Color Works
Is an American composer, singer, songwriter, record producer, activist, and actor born August 6th, 1953 who has pursued a diverse range of styles as a solo artist and as a member of "The Conversation Project".
Oscar's early influences such as composers, Claude Debussy, Igor Stravinsky, Maurice Ravel, and Sergei Rachmaninov Oscar begin to study the piano at the age of three with pianist Martha Kenbridge, and at age 12 with pianist Johana Harris and studied orchestration with composer Roy Harris, who cultivated the use of melodies. Johana Harris introduced Oscar to the film, Black Orpheus by Brazilian Director Marcel Camus. This film featured the music of composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. Hearing the music of Jobim would forever have a lasting influence on Oscar's music direction, and was also his introduction to the art form, known as jazz. Oscar became the apprentice to composer Oliver Nelson between 1969 - 1973. And In 1973 Oscar would serve as the assistant to Nelson film score for the Bernardo Bertolucci film, Last Tango in Paris.
2020 Oscar concurrently pursued a solo career, releasing the experimental organic and electronic music recordings such as, "The Conversation Project" and composing music for films and TV. Web: http://www.oscardericbrown.com
