Professor Gunnar Biörck KCVO, FRCP, HonFACP, HonMD (Helsinki) was not an actor but a physician, and starred in one film (as himself). Gunnar Biörck graduated in 1942 and presented his doctoral thesis in 1949. His field was cardiology, and after eight years as a consultant in Malmö he was appointed professor of internal medicine at the Serafimer Hospital in Stockholm (Karolinska Institute), a position which he held from 1958 until 1980. In 1965 he was appointed Physician-in-ordinary to the King. After his retirement he was elected a Conservative member of the Swedish Parliament (Riksdagen). He married Margareta Lundberg in 1944. They had five children. Biörck was widely appreciated for his deep knowledge of medicine and cardiology, but often despised by students and subordinates for his aloof manners and blistering criticism, often on moral issues.
