Toni Bestard

Toni Bestard holds a degree from the Madrid Film and Media Arts School (TAI). He has been involved in media arts since 1999 as a director, screenwriter, and producer. He has had an extended career in short films, receiving over 150 Spanish and international awards for his work. Two of his short films, "Baggage Claim" (2006) and "The anonymous Charon" (2007), were both nominated for the Goya Awards for Best Short Film (Spanish Academy Awards). Also, "Foley Artist" (2013) was finalist at the Spanish Academy Awards. His first feature film was "The Perfect Stranger" (2012) starring Irish actor Colm Meaney, and has been selected in international festivals as Busan (South Korea), Seminci (Valladolid), Palm Springs (USA), Shanghai International Film Festival (China), among others. It won several awards, as the Best International First Feature Film at Galway Film Fleadh (Ireland). "I am your father" (2015), his second feature film, was nominated for Best Documentary Film at the 30 Goya Awards (Spain) and premiered at Sitges International Film Festival. Aside his career in film, Toni Bestard teaches at several filmmaking schools in Mallorca (Spain).
