Frank Beyer

Director. Writer. Began studying at the FAMU in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in 1952 where he made his diploma in directing. Since 1958 worked as a director for the east-german production company DEFA. In that time he received numerous decorations for his work. His film Trace of Stones (1966) was immediately banned in the GDR. As a consequence he had to work for theatres and TV only for a period of about 10 years. In 1991 he received the Bundesfilmpreis for his complete works in the now reunified Germany.
