Stephen GC is a singer/songwriter who sings and performs on guitar. Stephen previously played in soul and classic rock cover bands for 10 years in the St. Louis and Columbia Missouri areas. His first instrument was saxophone. He then moved to bass, then guitar. Originally from St. Louis, Stephen also played in Seattle for 2 years with the band Osiris. After an eight-year stay in Los Angeles and three years in New York City, Stephen is now back in Los Angeles. He continues to perform locally both in Los Angeles and New York and is marketing his music for song placements in TV, film and theater.
Stephen is the Coordinator for SongNet Showcase where 10-15 songwriters perform 2 songs on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Led by Jimi Yamagishi, the SongNet organization meets in the Los Angeles area. Stephen is also a member of the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL). He has attended a number of music conferences including the TAXI Road Rally, the ASCAP "I Create Music" Convention and the Durango Songwriters Expo. Stephen's background also includes several years in technical fields including biochemistry and web site design.
His first CD, "Crystal-Studded Sky" was released November, 2006 and features an upbeat retro sound with pleasant 3-part harmonies. The CD is distributed through iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, Broadjam, CD Baby and affiliates. His CD "Love Sneaks Up on You" was released in 2020. Songs on this album are in the easy listening genre. A new rock album "Thought Crime" will also be released in 2020.
Stephen's song "Stop (instrumental)" appears in episode 611 ("Don't Hate La Playa") of "Bad Girls Club" aired April 11, 2011 and in episode 205 ("A Good Laugh") of "Best Ink" expected air date May 1, 2013.
