Leonard J. Waxdeck

Leonard J. Waxdeck was a biology teacher at Piedmont High School in Piedmont, CA. In 1963, at the suggestion of a student, he started an annual bird calling contest. Contest winners have appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
