Cody McLain is an American filmmaker, cinematographer and actor. His films are known for their brash style and bizarre technique. McLain was born on January 16th in Irving, Texas and grew up in a small town. He often cites experiences from his youth as one of his reasons for pursing filmmaking. McLain began taking the craft seriously after seeing the films Vertigo (1958) and Videodrome (1983) in a college class.
His short films Kaleidoscope (2019), H E A D (2020) and together (2020) were released online where they caught international attention and generated thousands of views. All were chosen as Official Selections of various film festivals around the world including Sacramento International Film Festival, Berlin Revolution Film Festival and The Los Angeles Underground Film Forum where his film H E A D received high praise and was awarded the Honorable Mention of 2020 for it's "unique contribution to cinema." All three short films are now preserved by The New American Cinema Group.
McLain's debut feature film "So Help Me God" is scheduled for wide release in 2021.
