Rachel Elizabeth Whorton was born in Birmingham, UK to Susan Elizabeth (née Newborough) and Robert Osborne. Her mother is an opera singer and father a Methodist Minister / hospice Chaplin.
She started dance classes at the age of 3 and at 11 went to the Arts Educational Schools, London, training to be a classical ballerina. Due to injury she never completed her diploma and so went to the University of Wales, Aberystwyth to study Drama.
From the age of 9 she started performing with English National Opera, Royal Opera and English National Ballet. She continued performing, choreographing and teaching in Aberystwyth before returning to London at 25. After a break from the performing world for a few years, she went to Disneyland Paris and worked in the Parade and Character department. This reignited her desire for the industry and in 2012 set up Pointe Ahead Ltd with the aim to make classical ballet more accessible.
Her current project 'Vacillation' is a series of seven short films with inspiration taken from the poem 'Vacillation' by W.B. Yeats based on the seven stages of life. 'Adulthood' and 'Adolescence' have already been completed. 'Pregnancy' is in pre-production and due to be completed in 2016.
