Antonio Salume is a Mexican filmmaker (director, writer, producer). He graduated magna cum laude from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Film & TV and a minor in Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology.
Antonio recently won the Dolby Institute x Ghetto Film School "Finish the Script" competition, where he wrote and directed the short film Take Care Zora alongside Amy B. Tiong while being mentored by Academy Award nominee Carlos López Estrada (Blindspotting, Raya and the Last Dragon). The film premiered in New York's AMC Lincoln Square and Los Angeles's Academy Museum. He has also worked on films that have premiered at Cannes, Tribeca, and Sundance, and has directed commercials for Nestlé and DiDi.
Believing in stories' power as catalysts for self-discovery, Antonio has worked at independent film companies such as A24, Cinereach, Archer Gray, The Lift Mexico, El Estudio, Big Beach, and Canana/Gloria. Moreover, working as an assistant to five-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman, The Revenant, Amores Perros) and prolific Mexican producer Pablo Cruz (Luis Miguel la Serie, El Baile de los 41, Miss Bala), he has been fortunate to learn from their expertise.
As an individual who prides himself in his heritage, Antonio is deeply committed and passionate about furthering the presence of Latin American and Middle Eastern stories. Whenever he is not writing scripts and life observations, he enjoys trying new Middle Eastern restaurants, traveling, running outdoors, and wandering around grocery store aisles.
