Biography

Rafaela is an award-winning documentary filmmaker working directly with underprivileged communities since an early age. She believes in using the power of filmmaking to make a difference in our society by empowering critical thinking and amplifying the voice of marginalized people. Rafaela Galindo is a Director, Producer, and storyteller, the founder of a nonprofit organization focused on human rights initiatives through storytelling, Younique Matters, and the creator of an award-winning freelance production, Ant Films. She has earned a diploma in Film Production and a degree in Journalism. Rafa has over twelve years of experience covering compelling stories. Her work is well known for enhancing the voice of vulnerable communities. She has directed and produced documentaries in Canada, Brazil, Thailand, the USA, and other locations. Rafa has won awards and nominations with a screening at prestigious film festivals at Carlton Cinema, Cineplex, Raleigh Studios Hollywood, Acme Theater, Pollock theater, and Teatro La Tea, with two of her notable documentaries streaming on Amazon Prime in the UK and USA. Her short documentary, " Saving Gorillas. One Sip At A time" about the mountain gorillas and the work of the African community in Uganda was recently selected at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival in 2021.
