Stephen was born in Brisbane Australia. He was adopted and raised by Brian Dimmick, a surveyor and Mary Dimmick a stay at home mum in Ipswich, a small coal mining/air force town outside of Brisbane. A tumultuous upbringing lead Stephen to drop out of school and run away from home at the age of 16 to Brisbane where he lived on and off the streets. This less than idyllic life also gave Stephen a place to dream of a brighter and better life that drove him to pick up a makeup brush. This was the first creative space Stephen could get lost in the ideas of creating characters on himself and others.
Eventually moving to New York in 1997 to continue a career in makeup artistry Stephen slowly worked his way up the ranks to eventually have the great fortune of working under the great makeup artist, Pat McGrath. Working with iconic fashion houses like Christian Dior and Valentino he soon began to work on his own editorials for Vogue Italia, Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire. Not satisfied with reaching these creative goals Stephen soon realized that a lived life doesn't stay still. Acting was an unrealized but continuing dream from his youth however he ventured into Real Estate in New York. After completing one sale in Manhattan he realized that his passion for the craft of acting had never released it's grip from the first time he watched the films of the Golden Age of cinema.
Stephen moved to Los Angeles following his marriage to husband Jonathan South an Oncology Nurse, who'd recently completed cancer treatment. Here Stephen was able to find work as a makeup artist working with actresses like, Marcia Gay Harden, Teri Hatcher, Anna Kendrick and Vanessa Hudgens. After a chance meeting with director, Stacey Marbrey, to discuss a documentary she asked Stephen if he'd ever thought about acting. Stacey thought he'd be perfect in the role of Boss in the film, Debts (II) (2016), she was directing. Stephen's performance did not go unnoticed and a life long dream became realized and the door to acting flung wide open. Soon after he began studying under acting teacher 'Brian Lally (I)' qv of LOLA's in Burbank California and began production for External Living (2017) directed by mother and daughter team of Rebekah and Demetria Dewald playing Rumor.
