Azmera Davis, aka Azmera Rhymes, is an actress, writer, poet and producer from Keaáu, Hawaii. While studying at USC she created the Break The Boxes visual poetry series and went on to win the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Fulbright Dramatic Arts Award to study the Afro-Brazilian martial art of Capoeira in Salvador Bahia, Brazil. Outside of Portuguese fluency, upon completion of Fulbright Azmera attained her Masters of Theological Studies at Harvard University, where she cultivated the spiritual underpinnings of arts, culture and education to highlight the humanity in people on the margins. She is a frequent collaborator of the Harvard Dance Center, Theater, Dance and Media Collective, as well as the School of Dramatic Arts, serving as a panelist to speak on the importance of Artist-citizens during the corona-virus pandemic and the movement for Black Lives.
