Biography

Rehuri Shimizu is a Japanese professional ski jumper. Born on 4 December 1993 in Myoko, Niigata, Shimizu made his World Cup debut in November 2012 in Lillehammer. He was was named after the Austrian military officer, Theodor Edler von Lerch, who introduced ski into Japan in 1910s. His biggest achievement is winning a bronze alongside his teammates Noriaki Kasai, Daiki Ito and Taku Takeuchi at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. On 23 November 2013, Shimizu won a bronze medal at the team large hill event in Klingenthal. His brother is Aguri Shimizu, who is also a ski jumper.
