Biography

Kerwin Young is a concert & media composer, recording producer, educator, multi-musician, Hip-Hop Cultural Ambassador and Performing Rights Associate with the U.S. Department of State, and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted group, Public Enemy. Kerwin Young, the song-writer has penned songs for motion pictures as Green Card, Sister Act 2, He Got Game, and Dirty Grandpa. As a media composer, Kerwin's credits include After College, Miss Jackson, Cut Me a New Path, and New York Undercover. As a concert composer, Young has composed nine symphonies, several orchestral fantasies, ballet suites, chamber, wind band and jazz big-band works; with commissions from the Tesla Quartet, the Albany (NY) Symphony, the DC Youth Orchestra, and many others. Kerwin Young earned a B.M. and M.M. in music composition at the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance, where he studied with Chen Yi, Zhou Long, and Jazz Messenger legend, Bobby Watson.
