Josh Levine is a queer storyteller with the heart of a golden retriever and an obsession with unapologetic, funny women. For his work in film & television, Josh is writing an animated feature for Mattel, and he staffed on the Emmy-nominated "PEN15" (Hulu). His "PEN15" episode, "Sleepover," was named one of the "30 Best TV Episodes of 2020" by Entertainment Weekly, and the season was nominated for Best Comedy Series by the Writers Guild of America and the Critic's Choice Awards. Josh previously served as Executive Assistant to Natasha Rothwell (HBO's "Insecure"), Script Coordinator on "Schitt's Creek" (CBC/Pop) and as Writers' Assistant on "Playing House" (USA). For his work as a playwright, Josh received the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for Comic Playwriting for his play "Homemade," which was also a finalist at the 2019 Austin Film Festival, and his play "Perfect" was a Heideman Award Finalist and featured in the 2019 Short+Sweet Hollywood Festival. Josh's plays have received productions around the country in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Dallas, among others, and his play, "I Love You I Love You," is published by Smith & Krause in "The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2014". Josh received his MFA in Playwriting from Rutgers University, where he was an Adjunct Professor of Screenwriting, and his BFA in Playwriting from The Theatre School, DePaul University. As a father of two little girls and self-proclaimed #Disnerd, Josh's favorite pastime is whisking his husband and daughters away to Disneyland between naps.
