Richard Ashley Hamilton is the award-winning screenwriter and author best known for his storytelling across multiple DreamWorks Animation franchises including How To Train Your Dragon and Guillermo Del Toro's Tales of Arcadia. He wrote on the first season of Netflix's Dragons: Race to the Edge, which earned a Daytime Emmy for Best Writing, and has also developed animated series for such companies as Skybound Entertainment, SuperProd, and Lionel Trains. Additionally, Richard served as a writer and creative consultant for brands like Trolls, Wizards of Once, Voltron, Captain Underpants, B.O.O., Masters of the Universe, and IKEA. Apart from his work in animation, Richard has also authored numerous Trollhunters and 3Below middle grade novels for Simon & Schuster, inventing new characters, locations, and plotlines to advance the world-building for each property. His writing also appears beyond publishing, most notably in the How To Train Your Dragon: Hidden World Tour (winner of the 2020 Lumiere Award for Best Entertainment VR Experience and nominee for the Producers Guild of America Innovation Award) as well as in the DreamWorks Dragons: Flight Academy VR Experience, one AAA console video game, and the Kirkus-starred DreamWorks Press: Dragons digital storybook. But in his heart, Richard remains a lifelong comic book fan and has scripted and developed titles for Dark Horse Comics, DC Entertainment, Dial "C" for Comics, and Papercutz. Richard currently writes his ongoing original YA graphic novel series, SCOOP, for Insight Comics and lives in Silver Lake, California, with his wife and their two sons.
