Biography

Artemis Jamison is an actor, writer, and musician. Artemis was born in Durham, North Carolina. While attending Cary Academy for middle and high school, Artemis began studying German, and participated in an exchange program. In 9th grade, she stayed with a family in Koblenz, Germany. The summer after 11th grade, Artemis took a course through Concordia College, where she traveled around Germany and Switzerland with a group of students for part of the time, and stayed with a family in Bad Waldsee for the remainder of the exchange. Artemis then attended and graduated from High Mowing School in Wilton, New Hampshire. After high school, Artemis took a year off from school, in which she continued to pursue her passion for music, writing songs for piano and voice. After attending Earlham College, a Quaker school in Indiana, for a semester, she came back to NC. There, Artemis continued to pursue her passion for the dramatic arts. She began to study Acting at UNC Greensboro. She continued to work on her music and transferred to Guilford College in Greensboro, where she received her BA in German literature, with a minor in Philosophy. Artemis loves to speak in German and also enjoys reading German poetry, especially Rainer Maria Rilke. As part of a senior independent study project at Guilford that she designed, Artemis wrote Die Sonette an Persephone, a collection of 10 sonnets in German, in the style of Rilke (2014). Artemis graduated from Guilford College in 2014. Artemis also wrote English adaptations of her Sonnets to Persephone (2015). Artemis also competes in chess tournaments. In 2014, Artemis Jamison was cast in a supporting role in her first feature length film: Five Rounds (2016). This independent film is directed by George Christopher Hayes of Greensboro, North Carolina, and produced by Kareem Alston and George Christopher Hayes. Artemis is playing Laura, the best friend of the female protagonist. She is also writing a song for the soundtrack, a ballad written from the perspective of the main character, Tina/Dawn. In 2015, Artemis was cast as the leading role in her second feature length film, Sedated. Artemis played a supporting role in the acclaimed short film, Journey Home, Inspired by Trayvon Martin and directed by Quinton Littlejohn of Greensboro, NC (2013). She also played the female lead in Prime Mate (2014), a romantic comedy produced by Fly-By-Night Theatre Company in Greensboro, North Carolina. The first short play Artemis wrote, entitled Vienna Game, was produced in Greensboro in 2011. Artemis is writing a memoir, entitled Artemis Awakens: finding hope and thriving after descending into the Underworld. She is also writing the screenplay and some of the music for her film musical, Persephone's Revenge. She is directing the film with her close friend and mentor, Davis Stillson. Davis is also the cinematographer for the film.
