Biography

Sean Segerstrom was born on December 27, 1989 - the year of the snake - in Charleston, South Carolina to a Korean mother and Swedish father. Sean was bitten by the performing bug early on, singing and dancing in his school choirs from kindergarten on. He worked his way onto the theater scene, when he was cast as a Featured Dancer in a regional production of "Grease." This is when he knew for sure that he was put on this planet to perform and entertain for people. When performing on stage just wasn't enough, he turned to Film and TV. Working with his local cable network, he hosted several informative talk programs. He followed this up by writing, directing and producing several low-budget films that made their way through local indie film circuits and competitions. He attended Jacksonville University on a Film scholarship. It was here he was able to really open his mind and grow as an artist--taking his talents for music, dance, and film and putting together new multimedia projects. His time in Florida was also spent working in many regional productions, including the premiere of both "After Ashley" by Gina Gionfriddo, playing the role of Roderick Lord, as well as "Forbidden Broadway: Greatest Hits." In 2013, he moved to New York City to tackle his dreams head-on. In that time, he's had the chance to perform and study with several talented individuals including Tony Winners Kristin Chenoweth, Annaleigh Ashford, and Carolee Carmello; 2 Time Golden Globe Nominee Alan Cumming; Renowned Comedian Bruce Villanch; 7-Time MAC Award Winner, Natalie Douglas; and Trans-Recording Artist and Tony Nominee, Justin Vivian Bond. He originated the role of "John Crisdell" in "Chosen" by Shari Umansky, where the play took home the award of "Best Short Play" in the International Midtown Theater Festival. He was also lucky to be a part of a small ensemble that was the surprise performance for Bernadette Peters at the Drama League Centennial in November of 2015.
