Aamil Keeyan Khan is an Indian Actor, Writer, Director, Editor, and Composer. A multifaceted artist, Khan is truly gifted, not only in his range as a chameleon-like shape-shifter actor but also as a Writer, Director, Editor, and Composer. Having initially won various multiple awards at various Film Festivals for each one of his talents.
Aamil Keeyan Khan was born on the 18th November 1987 in Jamshedpur, India to a Muslim family. Initially, his theatrics and occasional singing in school got him noticed and landed him a gig in the hit TV show Antakshari which was hosted by veteran actor Annu Kapoor. Over time, as he continued entertaining everyone around him, his Comic Timing was noticed by his seniors. When "The Great Indian Laughter Challenge" was launched in India, it gave an acceptance and spotlight to the art of Stand Up Comedy. Khan, who was a fan of the show felt that he should try his hands at it and started doing gigs on stage. A year later, he had already a gig on the same show that had inspired him. Veteran Actor Shatrughan Sinha declared him as "the artist to watch out - one who's energy is incredibly electrifying!"
Having been a comedian, his talent was initially spotted by renowned theatre actor Anshuman Bagri, who gave him a guest part in a play he was producing a day before the play was to be performed. This is where Khan's ability to improvise and co-write scenes on the spot first came to the surface. By the next day, the guest part had become a central character in the play, surprising everyone with his comic timing and his performance. Khan had based his voice and mannerisms on a school teacher and nailed it to the point that he was unrecognizable on stage.
Following this Khan was offered various parts in plays. The problem was, they were all comic roles and by now Khan had started understanding his need to experiment with different genres. This is where Bagri came in again with the play "Samay" (Time) and trusted him with the role of a dying cancer patient who starts having a conversation with time, a character 15 years older than his real age. Khan wowed the critics in a dramatic role that won him his first accolade as "Best Actor" in various independent festivals in Calcutta. A few months later, Khan would swap his role for the younger brother's part and still win the "Best Actor" award at various festivals.
The duo founded the group, Nine Point Blank and started performing various independent productions that Khan wrote and starred in. The play, "Ahlyat" which was based on Antony Shaffer's Sleuth was the most noticeable play during this tenure. After the massive success with theatre, Khan shifted to Mumbai and got his break first as a Screenwriter and then as an actor. He has since then written, acted in, directed and edited various Films, Plays and Commercials with several A-Listers.
