Jalal Maghout

An animation filmmaker and visual artist based in Berlin. He was born in Damascus 1987, graduated ranked first in 2010, from Damascus University / Faculty of Fine Arts, and then became a teacher assistant in the faculty 2011-2012. His first independent film was "Creatures of Inexistence" (15:28- 2010) has been screened in many cultural spaces and festivals in Syria and Lebanon. His second film is "Canvas on Mixed Media" (05:12 - 2012), which won the 1st prize of Made in Med short film contest in Belgium, and was officially selected for many international film festivals, including Annecy 2014 and the Short Film Corner of Cannes festival 2013. The third film was "Suleima" (Animadoc 15:04, 2014) has been officially selected by Dok Leipzig festival 2014. As well as, Jalal has many other works and music videos, and has an experience in video art, Caricature, photography, and painting.
