Biography

"Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved." - William Jennings Bryan As an immigrant from Fortaleza, Brazil, one of the most dangerous cities in the world, 13-year-old Rita Angel Taylor is the embodiment of "choice" and "achievement!" Discovered while casually singing at a Dallas, Texas, Starbucks at age three, Rita became a successful child model for three years. After JCPenney photographers encouraged her to pursue acting, Rita moved to Los Angeles, California. At age six, she debuted as a guest-star on Nickelodeon's "Sam & Cat" starring Ariana Grande who inspired Rita to become a musical artist. After learning to play piano and guitar, Rita moved to Las Vegas where she was a successful street performer on the world-famous "Fremont Street Experience" from age 7 through 8. After taking a two-year hiatus from acting to develop her musical talents, Rita decided to pursue both acting and music which brought her back to Los Angeles when she was nine-years-old. Today, at age 13, Rita's acting credits include multiple TV guest star roles and commercials, two prior TV series-regular roles; and, she's also writing her first screenplay. Rita's acting projects haven't dampened her enthusiasm for music. She still finds time for songwriting and occasionally performs live at select venues across the USA and abroad. Rita's first original song, "For My Girls," a teen pop song she co-wrote when she was 11 to empower women and girls, debuted via a live performance by Rita on GMA in March 2019, with all proceeds donated to CARE.org. Rita is proud to be the youngest ambassador for CARE which gives her the opportunity to give back and fulfill her passion of helping underprivileged people around the world like her extended family she had to leave behind in Brazil. Rita's music genre has since evolved into Urban-Rock and Latin-Pop for the young adult and adult markets; she's expected to release more music in 2021. Rita is home-schooled to accommodate her busy schedule. Now in ninth grade, her two favorite subjects are math and history. Rita cherishes the time she spends with her family and friends. As one of the first Brazilian kids to find success in the USA entertainment industry, Rita has instilled hope in Latin kids all over the world who wish to pursue the American Dream.
