Biography

Wardia Hamtouche is an Algerian actress born in 1931 in Algiers, and died on January 1, 1991 at 59 years old in France. She Was Married at a very young age, at the age of 15, she was born into a Kabyle family of Tizi Ouzou, Algeria. She used to work as a maid at "Mustapha Basha" Hospital in Algiers while studying. Her career as an artist begins when she participates in radio programs, while continuing her work as a cleaning lady at the hospital during the night. A few years later, she participated in TV comedies performing various roles for television, theater and movies. Becoming very popular soon, Wardia knew how to conquer the hearts of Algerian public by her simple and natural appearance as a typically Algerian woman, and by making the roles she played so close to reality. Wardia is the maternal grandmother of the French rapper of Algerian origins Karim Zenoud known as Lacrim. She died on 1 January 1991 of a heart attack on a train in her way to visit her daughter in Metz, France.
