Juan Paulo Laserna Arias

Juan Paulo Laserna was born on May 6th, 1989, to Clara Ines Arias and Paulo Laserna. He grew up in Bogota, Colombia, until the age of 18, after which he moved to Beijing, China, to pursue mandarin studies at Beijing Language and Culture University and Sinoland Mandarin Institute. He then entered the International Business Administration program in Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, Holland, until his eventual transferring to study film directing at School of Visual Arts. He graduated with honors from the school and won several awards for his work, including best editing, directing and best film for his thesis work. In his time in New York he wrote, directed and produced his first feature film, Las Malas Lenguas.
