Levi Marshall

Biography

Levi Marshall is a First Nations filmmaker, in his second year of studies for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production, and a minor in Journalism at Ryerson, University in Toronto, Ontario. Levi has worked with a number of Canadian production companies as a Videographer, Research Assistant, Production Assistant, and Editor for television shows nationwide. Formerly, Levi worked as a Multi-Media Developer with Nova Scotia's leading Mi'kmaq Education authority, Mi'kmaw Kina'matnewey, focusing on promoting healthy and substance-free lifestyles to Indigenous youth through the use of technology. Now in school, Levi spends most of his time studying and producing student films, however, working part-time as a freelancer on television sets, and corporate videos for, largely, Indigenous based content. Levi is passionate about working in Indigenous communities and has begun his own initiative, called The Preservation Project, which aims to preserve the Mi'kmaq culture, through the use of videography and social media. The short documentaries and interviews produced from the project are utilized as a tool for teachers in Nova Scotia, and British Columbia, to teach youth about First Nations culture.
