Roxy Howard

Biography

Roxy Howard was born on July 19, 2000. She was a very happy, outgoing baby who couldn't wait until Preschool started, so she could make friends and play pretend. It was clear early on that Roxy was destined to become an Actress. Unlike most girls who liked dressing like princesses or fairies, Roxy preferred becoming dinosaurs, vampires, Peter Pan, The Dead Skinned Bunny Bride, or her favorite, Chucky. Whichever character it was, Roxy would inhabit that character for an entire day, sometimes weeks, until she got the character down. Early on, it was clear she had a knack for imitating facial expressions, body movement and voices. Roxy was always the obvious choice for entertainment at parties and family functions. In 2012, Roxy registered with the San Anselmo Rec Center to take an acting class taught by veteran Film and T.V. actress and Coach, Bettina Devin. Bettina took Roxy's Mom aside and said, "Roxy is very gifted. This girl needs to be acting... professionally!" Bettina Devin took Roxy under her wing, and in addition to teaching her acting techniques, she coached her on the business and networking aspects of getting into the industry. After 6 months of training, Bettina felt Roxy was ready for auditions. Roxy signed up with SF Casting, and right away started getting auditions. By her third audition, she was cast as a Lead in a Short Film directed by Aminder Sandhu called, "I See You." Though technically a short film, it took 5 weekends to shoot. Despite the long hours and her relative lack of experience, Roxy impressed the director and crew with her focus and abilities. On only her second foray out the gate, Roxy won Best Actress for her role in Aminder Sandhu's " Little Angel", after it was shown at the Aspiring Minds Film Festival. Roxy's acting career snowballed from there. After the screening, she was approached by Director Richard Valencia, who handed her his new script and business card. She nailed her audition. "The InBetween'", in which she starred, captured Best Film honors at The Walnut Creek International Film Festival, The Coppola Collective Film Festival, and The Aspiring Minds Film Festival. A quote from film director Rajesh Naroth who viewed the film: "Everybody was floored by the performance of the Lead Female Roxy Howard. Barely 14 and she nailed the role so well with such a controlled performance." Rajesh subsequently cast her in his own short film, "Crumble" which began shooting in August 2014. Roxy was consequently approached by Shannon Elizabeth Clark, producer of "The In-Between", to play the lead in her next film "Madly", directed by Matt Hilecher. Shortly after, Roxy won a coveted role in what will be her first feature film. '"Brook'", directed by Anthony Larice of Great White Buffalo Productions, will be shot over a period of two years, as the film will follow Roxy's character as she ages. Production is set to begin in September 2014. Soon thereafter, an article about Roxy made the front cover of The Sunday Lifestyles section in The Marin Independent Journal. The article attracted immediate attention from L.A. agents and casting directors. This quick-spreading attention changed Roxy's parents' plan for her schooling. She now studies virtually, to enable her to take her schooling to sets. In addition to acting, Roxy enjoys Filmmaking, Illustrating, Painting, Mountain Biking, Running, and Cooking. She interns at her local Veterinary once a week so she can learn to care for animals. Roxy's future goal is to land a recurring role on Game of Thrones, as well as more feature films. She is working towards attending UCLA to study Filmmaking.
