Thomas P. Wagner

Biography

Tom Wagner helps science-fiction films with climate change, natural disasters, and space science. He also appears as himself in documentaries, educational programs, and news programs. A geologist by training, Tom has worked at NASA and the National Science Foundation developing missions to study other planets, the Earth's polar regions, climate change, sea level rise, and geosciences. He has also served on White House science committees and served as reviewer for various climate change reports, such as those of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Tom's personal research is on volcanoes, and he has a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has lived in Papua New Guinea, where he taught at the national university while consulting for the United Nations and World Bank. He later moved to the US Antarctic program, and has been to the South Pole six times, including crossing the Drake Passage by ship. Tom frequently speaks about science, planets, and global warming to everyone from kids to makers to business executives with talks and podcasts scattered about the web.
