Born in January 1945 in England and spent most of his life in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. The handsome blonde, blue eyed Gary Hartman was a photographer who was friends with the late Larry Vaira (who played Mousey, The Tommy-Gun Biker (riding in sidecar) in Dawn of the Dead (1978) and a Biker at the Renaissance Faire in Knightriders (1981)) and his beautiful wife, Jeanette Lansel Vaira. He and so many other friends who grew up and went to school with Larry Vaira in Finleyville and Monongahela, Pennsylvania area were invited by Larry to come along and play the roles of our Biker antagonists in George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead (1978). Since George needed some people who looked like Biker and Biker Chick types of people. Gary appeared as a Featured Blonde Biker wearing a black helmet, olive green military jacket, red and black plaid shirt, black gloves, blue jeans and riding a Yamaha XS 650 Motorcycle. And you could seeing him riding his motorcycle through out the entire invasion of the bikers scene. And that was the only movie he had ever appeared in as a day player. And besides, he, Butchie, the late Tom Kapusta, the late Dave Hawkins, Lenny Roman, George Heake, Bobby Dauk and some other people who appeared as bikers in the same movie always rode motorcycles together with Larry Vaira as his group of friends.
He also photographed some of the Luaus for Larry and Jeanette Vaira in the Jim Hollowood's Royal Hawaiian performances in the Tri-State Area.
He then moved to McKinney, Texas and is now retired.
