Born in Durham, North Carolina to a loving and supportive family, Maxwell relished the role of 'class clown.' Greatly influenced and likened to the comedic styles of Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, and his grandfather (a humorist who worked for Mad Magazine), his impressions and wisecracks became commonplace around the dinner table. As a teenager, Maxwell channeled his energies into show choir, drama, and sports. He applied 'early decision' to Elon University's Musical Theatre program, where he was one of 16 students accepted.
Cutting his teeth in summer stocks, and graduating with a B.F.A., Maxwell became a creative nomad. Travelling around the country, he performed in regional theaters, cruise ships, and other live events. After getting discovered by a casting director, he booked a small speaking role in the movie 42 (starring Chadwick Boseman), which turned his attention to film. He went on to book several more independent films before eventually moving to New York.
Oozing with empathy, humor, and a charm unique to him, Maxwell fits comfortably in comedic and dark worlds alike. He's passionate about storytelling, and bringing to life complex characters of depth, subtlety, and humanity.
