Daniel Enriquez

Biography

Born in Jerez, Zacatecas, Daniel Enriquez was born into a community proud of its cowboy heritage and ranching lifestyle. A daredevil and consummate horseman, Daniel toured with famed Mexican screen star Antonio Aguilar's rodeo troupe alongside brothers Esteban and Tiburcio as the trio Los Tres Enriquez. A master of multiple disciplines, he specialized in roping and the perilous "Paso de la Muerte", in which the charro jumps from a tame mount onto the back of a wild bronco. Early film work included stunt work for Aguilar films such as The Death of Pancho Villa (1974). After marrying American Jean Rehrman in 1966, he emigrated to the United States and traded in his chaps for the ardor of construction work. Laboring to support five children, Daniel did not return to film work until 2013, when son Andrew H. Enriquez cast him in critical supporting role of El General in Canvas the Night (2013). He lives with daughter Nora and brother-in-law, actor and comedian Eric Sharp and spends his semi-retirement painting and writing his memoirs.
