Biography

Samantha Smith is a writer and director born and raised in southern Mississippi. She developed a love for storytelling as a child, and went on to study film at Columbia College Chicago where she earned a BA in Film Directing. Since then, Samantha has made several films, the latest being a narrative short titled Si which was recently awarded "Best Short Film" and "Best Cinematography" at the International Kids Film Festival in Brazil, and was also featured on "The Short of the Month." Si is currently being distributed by KIDS FIRST! Film Festival which is an organization that showcases new and classic children's films from studios & independent filmmakers reaching over 50,000 viewers nationwide. Her short film Porcelain is also being distributed throughout the 2015-2016 year on The Kaleidoscope Kid's TV Network. Their mission is to provide quality children entertainment that educates, interacts and exposes children to the world around them. Her other films have screened at The New Filmmakers New York, The Chicago's Reeling32, The New Orleans International Film Festival and many more. As her shorts continue making their way through the festival circuit, Samantha is currently writing her first narrative feature film.
