Biography

The group's founder and Artistic Director, Maurice Kitchen was a frustrated twenty five year insurance industry claims professional. Lamenting about unfulfilled dreams and lack of earnest effort, he quit his job and joined forces with Torre Brannon Reese, the founder of a successful mentoring program, Kwame Alexander, a former Seventh Day Adventist Minister/Pastor, Anthony (Tony) Snead, an itinerant legal assistant and Charles (Sonny) Banks, a city worker on the verge of retirement and a life of golf. The five banded together "for one last Hoorah!" They formed a group of distinguished gentlemen A' Cappella Singers, Street Corner Style; dedicated to singing the music they loved from a by- gone era. Well past their prime; all had been long suffering with life's responsibilities and dreams deferred when this fantastic voyage began And what a voyage it has been. December 2013, the fellas suddenly found themselves in A'Cappella heaven when they joined the cast of NBC's season 4 network hit show, "The Sing Off.' SCR was an instant hit and crowd favorite. Prior to that their biggest accomplishment included opening for Otis Williams's Temptations, Chuck Berry, Kool & the Gang and Boyz II Men. SCR has worked with some of the biggest names in music while singing songs from the age of innocence. Their latest CD, "Life could be a dream" burned the charts with hot singles ranking from # 1-17 in multiple categories on Billboard.biz. Their video of the same name was featured on MTV, VH-1 and numerous other video outlets and was a YouTube sensation.
