With a background in journalism and art, B.R. Stanley left a successful career with Gannett Newspapers, Inc. to complete an MFA at USC's School of Cinematic Arts after receiving a Courtney Ross Fellowship. A compulsive writer, Stanley's screenplays consistently finished in the finals of most major screenwriting competitions. The offspring of a "first responder," Stanley grew up with cops, firemen, EMTs and other real-life action heroes. Stanley's scripts often feature culturally-diverse protagonists, normal people in extraordinary situations with an emphasis on strong female characters. Stanley's worked on several dramatic television shows such as the short-lived television series "In the Mix," and others, including several PBS shows in various capacities.
