Biography

Born in 1980 in Persia and studied piano withvarious maestros in his homeland such as Farman Behboud, former professor of Tehran Conservatory. Pejman Akbarzadeh is author of a 4-volume book about 20th-century Persian (Iranian) musicians which has been the source of various academic publication such as Encyclopedia Iranica. Since 2002 to 2006 he contributed as a columnist various Persian-language newspapers in Tehran and also briefly freelanced with BBC Persian Service. In 2006 Pejman Akbarzadeh moved to the Netherlands to continue his activities as a senior producer at Radio Zamaneh. He has also performed various recitals in Europe to present Persian piano music; concerts at Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Bethanienklooster and University of Cologne are among them. In 2009 Pejman Akbarzadeh finished his first cinematic project which is a documentary film about the iconic Persian singer Hayedeh. It was cited as by Holland Times as a "great insight into the musical make up of Persia".
