Biography

After graduating from Riverside City College with an Associates in Marketing Advertising, in 1997 he attended San Francisco's Academy of Art University majoring in Motion Picture and Video. After leaving Academy of Art, Jason knew that there was much more to learn about filmmaking on both the creative and business side and found that education working on numerous productions at the American Film Institute and California Arts Institute. In 2007, he co-wrote, co-produced and directed 22 episodes of a cable access talk show called "Sidekick". Wanting to expand more on his creativity and needing to get back on the film set, Jason went back to film working on below the line crews for different productions. In 2008 and 2009 when the banks went into a collapse and investors tightened up, Jason found himself on the outside looking in. Needing to make ends meet he fell back on a "real" job as a personal trainer. It wasn't until 2013, when he was asked to volunteer for the American Cancer Society to be a Production Coordinator for 3 different events he got back into production mode. Writing a number of short and feature screenplays, Jason was able to sell one of those features finally allowing him to move the City of Angels. Today, Jason is the founder and Chief Creative Officer of a start-up Creative Café Productions and along with his two producing partners BJ Alcantara, COO and Will Mendoza, CEO; Creative Café Productions will be producing short and feature films along with music videos. Their first endeavor is the edgy drama short Damaged Ones written and will be directed by Jason DeVaun and they will follow it up with the company's first psychological drama feature Scattered Leaves also written and will be directed by Jason DeVaun. Creative Café Productions have also completed and are in the process of shopping a musical reality competition show called "Don't Call It A Comeback". Jason DeVaun is now producing Terrence Kelsey's upcoming horror short The Circle.
