Biography

Johanna B. Kelly is a Melbourne native, NYC based filmmaker and multi-disciplinary designer for feature films and music videos. Her credits comprise producing, writing and directing award winning documentary The Gateway Bug, a documentary feature film on global food security starring Andrew Zimmern. World premiering at Santa Barbara Int. Film Festival, The Gateway Bug received the American Conservation Film Festival 'Green Spark Award', 'Best Environmental Documentary' at Melbourne Doc Film Fest, Impact DOCS 'Award of Excellence', Bonita Springs Int. Film Fest 'Audience Award' and 'Best Documentary' nom at Oscar qualifying, Nashville Film Festival. Most recently Johanna took part as invited guest in the 2017 Napa Valley Film Festival "Artist-In-Residence" program where The Gateway Bug was in core competition. Also an established Production Designer, Johanna counts 7 feature film credits as Art Department head, including cult indie Like Lambs, starring Liam Aiken and shot on 35mm (Atlanta Film Festival & Boston Int. Film Festival, 2016) along with commercials and music videos. Prior to moving to NYC in 2013, Johanna worked as Exhibition Designer for the National Gallery of Victoria in Australia designing over 35 exhibitions. During this period she was awarded a full scholarship for her practice based postgraduate work at RMIT University and consequently graduated with a Masters Degree in Interior Design.
