Chris Chung is a British filmmaker specializing in action and comedy projects.
Upon graduating from a BA in Film and TV Broadcast production, Chris produced, wrote and directed his first short film 'Handuken'; which was a finalist in the Virgin Media Shorts. The short film premiered at the BFI IMAX and distributed through Virgin Media's Tivo and Picturehouse cinemas nationwide. The short garnered a number of international awards and nominations.
'Lux' his second short film which explores renewable energy gave Chris the platform to explore world building and VFX, the project was part of the official selection at the BFI Future Film Festival and went onto screen in international festivals.
During 2015 Chris went onto produce, co-create and direct the independent sit-com pilot called 'Wok' which follows the trials and tribulations of a family run Chinese take away in East London. The 20-minute pilot was well received and described as "UK's answer to Fresh off the Boat". The project became a finalist in 2017 and 2018 at the TV Debbies Test Card award.
Chris was selected as one of six directors to write and direct a teaser for his action-comedy 'Soho Jimbo' for the Directors UK: Challenge Alexa 2016. Production took place over just two days with over fifty collaborators on the production. The teaser received an overwhelming response online with over 100,000 views on Facebook. Chris is currently developing the feature version of the film.
'Baliko' his most recent short film, stars Jessica Henwick and Tom Wu. Following Mara, a once renowned photographer, journeying deep into the Himalayan mountains in search of a mythical beast never photographed before.
