Yvonne Yang

Yvonne Yang was born in Framingham, Massachusetts on May 9. Her childhood also included living in Brooklyn, New York and Chicago, Illinois. She has two sisters. Yvonne worked in AmeriCorps' City Year and YouthSTAR Boston for two years before attending the University of Massachusetts, graduating in honors with a degree in Environmental Science. During her University years, she worked as a Resident Advisor and the Yearbook Editor, along with being involved with a myriad of other organizations such as the Environmental Science Talent Advancement Program, Alpha Phi Omega, Woodsy Club, MassPIRG, and the Outdoors Club. One year later, she moved to San Diego, California, where she worked various jobs, including an adventure outdoor store. Eventually she obtained a job in the biotechnology sector (Cell Genesys, Inc and Genzyme, Inc) as a Quality Control Analyst, performing chemical, biochemical, and biological assays, for over seven years. Genzyme then changed ownership and closed it's San Diego Gene Therapy site. Yvonne went on to become self-employed, managing a property, doing online sales, and event management. She is an avid volunteer for cultural/art organizations and film festivals, including the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park, the San Diego Asian Film Festival, the San Diego International Film Festival, and the San Diego 48 Hour Film Project. She has also been to 38 of 50 states in America and traveled in Asia, Africa, and Europe.
