Joseph C. Reyes has been a personal trainer/actor, for more than twenty years. In college, Joe worked at a local gym in Hempstead, NY. As a way to pay for school, stay in shape, and be prepared for demanding roles. He'd never imagined, that he would've ended up training thousands of people, throughout Long Island and New York City. All while raising a family, filming TV shows, movies, and authoring a book. With years of this type of experience, under his belt; Joe has gained a keen insight into the inner workings, of the fitness industry. Witnessing first hand, how a fitness department operates, along with all the drama, minutia, and stress that come with it.
In 2000, Joe was hired to train at the now defunct Sports Club LA, one of the swankiest gyms in Manhattan, at the time. For ten years, Joe honed his skills. Learning from industry titans, like Paul Chek and Juan Carlos Santana. Using, that expertise and accrued knowledge to train, a vast spectrum of the population. There's not much Joe hasn't seen, there is also not much Joe can talk about, due to the sensitive nature, of some material.
The idea for his first book Private Sessions, came about, during breaks in their schedule. When, Joe and his co-workers, used to share outrageous stories, about their clients, outside of working out. Although none of the stories in the book are true, places and events that took place in real life might sound familiar. To make a long story, short. Being a personal trainer at a Mega-Gym, in New York City can make for some pretty interesting conversation, to say the least.
Today, Joe has a thriving personal training business in the city and works part-time, for a non-profit organization that helps, tens of thousands of children, throughout New York City, get a proper physical education.
