Biography

Ana Pio is a film director who studied Music, specializing in Piano, from the age of 10. Later, she pursued her studies in Cinema at University of Beira Interior in Portugal, complemented with a semester at University of Lincoln, UK. Abroad, she had her first contact with the film industry as a sound recordist and an editor. She directed and produced her debut short film, in 2014, "I Welcome You to This House", funded by the Portuguese Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual. In 2015, she specialized in Directing by completing "Ode" and "Eden" during her Masters at Met Film School, in London, where she currently lives. "Eden" screened in over 25 international film festivals, won the Women in Film Achievement Award at the New Renaissance Film Festival and was later distributed by Shorts International. Ana has been a part of the jury of the European Student Film Festival 2015, Marbella International Film Festival 2016/2017 and Watersprite Film Festival 2017/2019 whilst working as a freelance Script Supervisor. She was selected for the 2017 Sara Putt Associates Trainee Scheme and the BFI NETWORK x BAFTA Crew 2018 and 2019. Ana is releasing her new short film "PMS" in 2020 whilst developing her debut feature film "Mother Nature".
