Biography

Ray J. Martinez was born in New Mexico and grew up in a small mountain village in northern New Mexico. He grew up speaking Spanish and raised in a rural Hispanic community. He attended the University of New Mexico for a while but eventually graduated from Northern Arizona University. The first exposure to the film industry came as a permit specialist while working for the federal government. When the film "Bless Me, Ultima" was filming in Abiquiu, NM he took a nephew to an audition. However, Ray was asked to audition himself and he was hired as background and portrayed a farmer in the film. He continued to work as a permit specialist with films such as "2 Guns", "Appaloosa", "Brothers", "Hostiles", and "Jane Got a Gun". Ray was able to meet some of the actors such as Jack Black, Viggo Mortensen, and Ed Harris. Ray finally took a few acting classes and continued to work in background and short films. In addition to film projects, Ray has done television and print including a commercial filmed in Spanish about the use of tobacco and alcohol. Most recently, Ray was cast in a major film where he will play the role of Deputy Ray Stevens.
