Biography

Jason Spanton was born in Toronto on November 26, 1987 to Jennifer Stutz and Clayton Spanton in Toronto, Ontario, but was exposed to British culture and British film as he spent much of his time in his family home in England. His mother's father exposed him to the old classic Jewish comedies such as Mel Brooks and the Marx brothers fostering a love for comedy. In high school Jason excelled in his drama course, but he did not gravitate towards acting in drama class but towards writing and directing the class plays, videos, docudramas, and even writing comedy songs for the school's holiday pageant. His favourite part of any drama production however was organizing everyone and deciding which of his peers would suit each role best. Jason has a degree in Criminal Justice from Ryerson University with a minor in Sociology. At Ryerson Jason took part in various student groups and helped to create the Israeli Students Association in his final year at the university. While Jason attended Ryerson he worked communications/technology company Synaptop where he served as the Business Development Coordinator and Head of Media Development. At Synaptop Jason was required to manage staff and oversee the creation of advertisements for the company. He chaired the casting committee of Synaptop's web commercials and was even asked to take part in the directing process. However, Jason is not, nor does he consider himself to be a director or a casting director. He says he simply likes to take a hands on approach on every project he is working on. After Jason graduated from university he was hired by RGM Management (as a Manager/Talent Agent). When Jason joined RGM Management he made it his personal mandate to "take RGM online", to bring it into the social media world, and to 'modernize' the agency. While at RGM Jason fancied himself as more of a manager than an agent. He enjoyed tailoring his client submissions to fit each actor. He applied a personal touch by recommending acting classes, and attending all of his clients' photo sessions. In 2016 Jason left RGM to run the Creative Department at Synaptop, an internet based entertainment company. Jason remains employed by Synaptop today where he creates original content, assists producers and directors in marketing and showcase their own work, and manages the creative team in all their operations.
